El-Degwy |
The body of Ahmed El-Degwy, Nawal El-Degwy's grandson, was found Sunday in his apartment with gunshot wounds, days after he was charged in a theft case and a family inheritance dispute. No official details have yet been released about the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether it was a suicide or a suspected crime, and investigations are still ongoing.
On April 19, 2015, Dr. Mohamed Sherif Mohamed Wagih, the eldest son of Dr. Nawal, passed away. The inheritance notification after the death of Dr. Mohamed Sherif revealed that he was married to 4 women until the date of his death. This was a surprise that the family did not know about, nor did they know anything about his multiple marriages. His wives are “Umaima, Fathiya, Maha, and Amira.” He had three children: Dr. Ahmed Sherif El-Degwy, Marketing Director at MSA University, Amr Sherif El-Degwy, Director of Career Academy, and accountant Mohamed
Sherif El-Degwy.
Dr. Nawal El-Degwy had submitted a request to the court to extract a certificate of inheritance and death for her son. The extracted certificate of death of Dr. Mohamed Sherif El-Degwy showed that the court stated that Dr. Nawal, the mother of the deceased, and his father, Major General Mohamed Wagih El-Degwy, each have a sixth of the son’s estate, and his four wives are entitled to an eighth of the estate, to be divided equally among them. The remainder of the estate is to be divided equally among the aforementioned sons, without a partner or heir.
In July 2017, Major General Mohamed Wagih El-Degwy, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of October University for Modern Sciences and Technology and one of the founders of the Dar El-Tifl and Dar El-Tarbiya schools, passed away, leaving the inheritance to be re-arranged for the legal heirs for the second time.
Accusations against the grandson
Al-Dugwy had recently sparked controversy after it was reported that her apartment had been robbed, with an estimated 50 million Egyptian pounds, 15 million dollars, and some gold jewelry missing. The aforementioned grandson was among those the prosecution accused.
Dr. Engy Mansour, the granddaughter of Dr. Nawal El-Degwy, president of the Baladna Foundation for Development and director of the Human Resources Department at MSA University, revealed that her grandmother was betrayed by those close to her, who, she said, betrayed her trust and love.
